Argentine star Taty Castellanos became the first footballer in over 75 years to score four goals against Real Madrid in a single LaLiga game.

Taty Castellanos has described his match-winning quadruple against Real Madrid as a ‘dream night’ and something ‘you can’t even imagine’.

The 24-year-old striker smashed four goals past Real Madrid on Tuesday to lead Girona to a famous 4-2 victory at Montilivi. The win moved the Catalan club into the upper half of the LaLiga table, just six points outside the top six in ninth.

On April 10, Castellanos was in tears for missing a chance to score against Barcelona. His miss denied Girona victory in a 0-0 stalemate. Yet, a fortnight later, he made amends in the best possible way.

“It was a dream night, we had a great game against one of the best teams in the world,” Castellanos said after the match.

“I never imagined this, enjoying it with our fans, with the people who have sent me support – my family, people in Argentina, they are always supporting me and that’s fundamental.”

“Obviously they are different days, it was a dream to score against Madrid and to score four – you can’t even imagine it,” he added.

“I’m very happy for everything, for the fans, for the lads.”

Castellanos has scored 11 goals in 29 LaLiga games this season. He is on loan at Girona from MLS club New York City until the summer.
