In a rather unexpected turn of events, it appears Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham could be on his way out of the club.
Tammy Abraham is refusing to discuss a new deal with Chelsea and it is now a possibility the striker could leave Stamford Bridge.
The England international got his breakthrough with the Blues last season under Frank Lampard and continued to play an important role for him before the former Chelsea midfielder was sacked.
However, Abraham has struggled for minutes since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and he’s so far unwilling to discuss a new deal at the club.
According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old is not interested in extending his deal beyond 2023 while Chelsea pursue Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola revealed on Tuesday that only four Premier League clubs can sign the 20-year-old. As expected, the Blues are likely to be one of those sides.
With Abraham not fully in Tuchel’s picture and Werner’s poor run in front of goal, veteran striker Olivier Giroud has moved back into the frame.
The 34-year-old has appeared to be on his way out of Chelsea but he agreed to a contract extension last May until the end of this season. When called upon, the French striker seems to deliver, and he could reportedly put pen to paper on a new deal.
Just yesterday, Giroud netted a sensational overhead kick against Atletico Madrid in their 1-0 Champions League last-16 first-leg victory.
All of the above scenarios leave Abraham with an uncertain future at Chelsea, with the Englishman now willing to consider his options elsewhere.
