Swansea and Manchester City faced each other at Liberty Stadium in the FA Cup’s fifth round. We have the player ratings.

Manchester City took a stroll around the park at Liberty Stadium this Wednesday afternoon. Despite promoting several changes in the lineup for the FA Cup, Guardiola‘s starting XI took charge of the game right from the start. In fact, the Citizens ended the first half with 74% ball possession and four shots on goal.

Swansea’s defense were able to stop City’s attack for the first half-hour of the game. However, it all went to shambles after Kyle Walker’s cross bounced off the grass and tricked Woodman who failed to make the save. Moreover, Ferran Torres’ movement also made it difficult for the goalkeeper to stop the ball and it ended up straight in the net.

If the Swans were planning on shifting the match’s course in the second half, their plans were immediately ruined. The players had just returned from the locker rooms when Sterling received a stunning pass from Rodri and finished it with class. The English forward had plenty of time to score City’s second goal of the night as Roberts was miles off his intended position.

However, the Citizens weren’t done yet and Gundogan once again displayed his fantastic form this season. The German midfielder crossed the ball onto Bernardo Silva’s head who stroke it to the penalty box area. And then came one of the best moments of the night. Gabriel Jesus put on a Striker 101 class as he quickly turned around and left Latibeaudiere completely out of the play. Moreover, the Brazilian grabbed the ball with his left foot and smashed it into the net.

The Championship side didn’t go home empty-handed.

Nevertheless, the Swans didn’t feature in the FA Cup just to watch City play around with the ball. The Welsh club had a few good chances but the only actual danger came through Morgan Whittaker’s feet. The 20-year-old scored his first goal for Swansea in a stylish manner. In fact, he gave Steffen no chance of keeping the ball out of the net.

Manchester City now move on to the FA Cup’s quarter-finals as Pep Guardiola reached his 200th win for Manchester City.
