Luis Suarez believes he still has a lot to offer to Barcelona and is even willing to accept a backup role in order to stay at the club.

FC Barcelona have long been heavily linked with the signing of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.

Earlier this week, president Josep Bartomeu also acknowledged the club’s interest in Martinez while keeping the door open for his arrival this summer.

In the aftermath of the infamous 8-2 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich, Bartomeu also listed a few ‘non-transferable’ players, hinting that those not on that list could quit Barca.

Luis Suarez’s name was not on that list. Speculations have since been surfacing about his future, with reports claiming that new boss Ronald Koeman is ready to sell the striker so as to raise funds for new signings.

Suarez, though, has taken a liking to the atmosphere at Camp Nou and is not ready to call time on his Barca career.

“[I want to stay], as long as I am counted on, I want to continue contributing as much as I can,” he asserted, speaking to El Pais

“I have felt the support of the fans since I arrived and that also gives me a lot of strength to continue.

“Competition is always good and if the coach considers that I should start from the bench, I have no problem helping with the role they give me. I think I can still contribute a lot to this club.”
