John Stones was delighted to see Sergio Aguero get back among the goals in the Premier League after a long time out.

John Stones has expressed his delight after seeing Sergio Aguero get on the score-sheet against Fulham.

Manchester City consolidated their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a 3-0 win over the Cottagers on Saturday.

Sergio Aguero wrapped up his side’s goals with a penalty just at the half-hour mark much to the delight of his teammates. That goal marked the end of a long drought for the Argentine, who was without a Premier League goal in 417 days.

Speaking after the game, Stones was delighted to see a once-prolific frontman back in the goals.

“I’m so pleased for him,” Stones told the club’s official website.

“He’s been out for so long and to have him back scoring is what we want and what all City fans want too!”

“He’s worked hard to get back and I’m so happy he got his goal.”

It was another positive outing for Stones, who kept yet another clean-sheet alongside Ruben Dias. The English defender was also pleased to keep another shutout.

“I think we did really well considering it’s something we’d not tried in a while,” he added.

“Obviously we’ve worked on it this week in training but to go out there and implement it as well as we did is never easy to do.

“Considering we got the clean sheet and scored three goals at a tricky place to come, I thought it was really impressive.

“They made it tough, especially in the first half, but in the end we got the job done and that’s what matters.”
