The England international is well aware that limited first-team action threatens his chances of making the cut for the Euro 2020 squad.
Harry Winks came on at half-time in Sunday’s Nations League match against Belgium and picked up his ninth cap for England.
The midfielder has looked sharp during the international break and remains a regular in Gareth Southgate’s team, but he hasn’t been enjoying similar privileges under his club coach Jose Mourinho.
October 18 was the last time he featured domestically, in the 3-3 draw against West Ham, as he has found himself on the periphery of the Tottenham team.
His last start in the Premier League dates back to September, with Winks having fallen down the pecking order at Spurs under Mourinho.
“Definitely,” responded Winks when asked if his England prospects could be impacted by inadequate game time at Spurs, via Evening Standard.
“My situation at Tottenham is difficult at the moment. It’s important that I keep fighting and working as hard as I can to stay in the squad and to stay in the team.
“I want to be a part of that in the Euros and I want to be in the starting XI in the Euros as well. But, yes, it’s important that back at Tottenham I get the opportunities there and I stay in the team there as well.”
