Spalletti agrees with Sabatini’s verdict on Osimhen & Mbappe

The Napoli boss weighed in on former Bologna director Walter Sabatini’s claim that he would choose Victor Osimhen over Kylian Mbappe.

Luciano Spalletti agrees with Walter Sabatini that Victor Osimhen is more ‘preferable’ than Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.

Now in his second season at Napoli, Osimhen has got off to a flying start. The Nigerian has scored nine goals in 10 appearances across all competitions. In fact, he is already just one goal adrift of his tally from last term.

The 22-year-old’s impressive form has stirred reports of interest from top European clubs, with Sabatini recently claiming he would pick him over Mbappe – one of football’s highest-rated youngsters.

“If I were to pick one of them, I’d go for Osimhen,” the former Bologna director told Corriere dello Sport. “He is unstoppable because he can run onto seemingly impossible balls and make them count.

“Right now, I would choose Osimhen.”

What did Spalletti have to say about this?

In a press conference on Saturday, Spalletti instantly agreed with Sabatini’s verdict when asked about it.

“I agree with what he said and I have always thought that,” said the Napoli manager.

Osimhen hopes to continue his superb form on Sunday as Napoli visit Jose Mourinho’s Roma side for another Serie A match.
