Tottenham have reportedly shown interest in Southampton’s star striker Danny Ings and the club has reacted.
Former Liverpool striker Danny Ings has been in top-notch form ever since he signed for the Saints. Since 2018, the Englishman has netted the goal 40 times on 82 occasions for Southampton. In fact, 22 of those goals were scored in the last Premier League season. Danny Ings finished the season with only one goal behind Jamie Vardy in the race to become the league’s top-scorer.
Naturally, the 28-year-old attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs. Although he failed to make an impact at Anfield, Ings has proved his talent countless times in his career.
Recently, the player has been linked with Tottenham, who could be looking to sign another striker should they decide not to keep Vinicius at the end of the season. However, Southampton’s CEO Martin Semmens decided to clarify the situation.
“The conversations have gone on and we have had talks with Danny, they’ve been 100 percent professional. Danny is very happy here, he wants to stay with the club and we have enjoyed having him,” he told BBC Radio Solent.
Moreover, Semmens addressed the rumors that suggested Ings was unhappy with his wages and was pushing for a move away from the Saints.
‘Money is 100 percent not the issue. Danny has put us under no pressure to provide finances that we are not comfortable with. Those rumors are not true. Danny is focused on playing games for us and does not want to talk about his future contract, I think people forget that they are humans.”
