Man United boss Ole Solskjaer believes the Red Devils must spend more to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
Manchester United will need to splash the cash if they are to close the gap with Liverpool and City, insists Solskjaer.
The Red Devils were the most dominant side and serial winners during the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Since the veteran manager left, it’s not been the same. United have not won the Premier League title since then, their last coming back in 2013 when he retired.
Solskajer might have led United to a third-place finish but there is still more to do. Second placed City were 15 points above their neighbors and Champions Liverpool had a massive 33 points difference.
For the Red Devils to get even closer to winning the title, Solskjaer insists the club must be ready to spend more to get better quality players.
“It’s a race. You can see teams building. We’re always looking at the squad and player logistics,” he said as quoted by Goal.
“It is definitely about quality – and it is going to cost money to get in players who are better than the ones we already have.
“We still have a way to go to get to the level of the teams at the top of the Premier League. They are too far ahead of us.” Solskjaer added.
“We are still growing, getting better of course, but we are not the finished article. Nowhere near.”
United went close to splashing the cash on Jadon Sancho but Borussia Dortmund decided to keep their prized asset for another season.
The target for Solskjaer at the moment will be lifting silverware at least as they now have a good chance in the Europa League.
