Ole Solskjaer has admitted he would consider giving Bruno Fernandes a rest ahead of his side’s FA Cup clash against Watford on Saturday.

Bruno Fernandes could not rescue his side as their 10-game unbeaten run across all competitions came to an end.

City were the better side and were deserving of their 2-0 victory at Old Trafford to seal a Carabao Cup final spot at Wembley come April.

Fernandes has been United’s most consistent performer all season but was not at his usual best against the Citizens.

Having played in at least 90% of the Red Devil’s games all seasons, fans and pundits alike felt it was time for the Portuguese to get a rest.

United take on Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday and this could come as a good chance for Fernandes to get a breather.

Ole Solskjaer is not fully decided on that but hints he will put it into consideration.

“Well, we go into every game wanting to win, of course we do,” the manager said to the club’s website.

“There will be a few changes, of course there will as it’s such a season that we have to.”

“We have shown quality when we have had to do that before and we will make a few changes. I will see tomorrow [Thursday] morning who is fit and who is not fit and who is ready to go.”

“He (Fernandes) wants to play every game, Bruno,” added Ole. “Of course, it’s a long season.”

“Let’s see what team we come with on Saturday so I’ll have a chat with him about how he feels.”
