Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke about Bruno Fernandes’s impact since arriving at the club and the one thing separating him from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bruno Fernandes is the Premier League’s man of the hour. After another month full of terrific performances, the Portuguese midfielder has once again been named Player of the Month.
The player won the award for the third time in less than a year, becoming the first Red Devil to do it since Cristiano Ronaldo. As the midfielder’s impact on the Manchester side continues to grow, so do the constant comparisons with his countryman.
Even though they are completely different players, they do share similar backgrounds. Also, Solskjaer believes it’s fair to put Fernandes and Ronaldo in the same bracket, as both players transform their teams. Moreover, this isn’t the first time Solskjaer admits there are similarities between the two Portuguese internationals. However, there’s one thing the 26-year-old needs in order to be on Cristiano’s level.
“You see the impact he’s made, but, then again, when Bruno finishes his career at Man United, he wants to look back at trophies, not individual accolades or awards. I’m sure he’ll agree with me and he’d swap any of them for a trophy,” said the Norwegian manager.
Manchester United will be facing City today in the Manchester derby. It is a highly important match for the Red Devils, as they have been inconsistent in the Premier League. The team will want to give fans something to smile about after their Champions League exit.
