Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his verdict on why his side failed to get a positive result against PSG on Wednesday night.

Solksjaer could only watch in dismay from the sidelines as his side fell to a disappointing 3-1 loss against PSG at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils needed only a point to secure their spot in the round of 16 but a loss leaves the group uncertain ahead of the final group game.

Neymar opened the scoring early on and Rashford continued his good form against the French giants with an equalizer before the break.

Solskjaer failed to take off Fred from the game and he paid for that hesitance with the midfielder picking up a red card.

Marquinhos then restored PSG’s lead before Neymar rounded up the result to keep his side alive again.

Speaking after the game, the United boss refused to blame the red card for his side’s loss. Instead, he says they lacked effectiveness in front of goal.

“I think you look back at that game and the chances we created and you feel we deserve to go through,” Solskjaer said to the club’s website.

“But you need to be more clinical, you need to take your chances, definitely. But you’ve got to say the boys did create those moments and chances, that’s the big positive.”

“We should have been more clinical, of course, we know that. More quality with the finish and then you’re celebrating.”

“But that’s football. It’s always decided in the boxes with that quality. Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes against you, and definitely tonight it went against us. We didn’t deserve to lose.”

Solskjaer and United now face a must-win clash against RB Leipzig for their final group game and a loss leaves them in danger of an early exit from the Champions League.
