Ole Solskjaer gave a reflection of Manchester United’s progress under his tutelage since he was appointed manager two years ago.
Ole Solskjaer says he is seeing a team he likes as he reflects on two years at the helm of affairs at Manchester United.
On the 22nd of December 2018, the Norwegian oversaw his first game as United boss in a 5-1 thrashing of Cardiff City. He was only the caretaker manager but ended up doing just enough to get that job permanently.
It’s been highs and lows for Solskjaer at United, with the former Red Devils star yet to deliver silverware since his appointment.
Much recently, there is optimism at Old Trafford based on recent performances and results over the past few weeks. Some are even starting to claim the Red Devils are one of the title challengers this term.
Silverware or not, Solskjaer remains pleased with the progress he has overseen with Manchester United since 2018.
The Norwegian was asked to reflect on his time at the club so far and responded: “Well we had a 5-1 win then and a 6-2 win now so we’re scoring more and conceding more! [Laughs] I’m very pleased with everyone.”
“The staff are great – fantastic energy and enthusiasm, and the workrate of them and the players as well. The players have bought into what we’re doing. We’re getting fitter and stronger and, for me, I see more and more of a team that I like.”
The Carabao Cup final was recently moved to April in a bid to let fans be present for the game. Solskjaer added that he agrees with the decision.
“It’s probably the best decision for the two teams that get to the final, but for me now I don’t think that far ahead.”
“We’ve just got to go one game at a time and now it’s the quarters and we’ve got a chance to get into the semis. Then again we’ve got a big league run coming up too. But all eyes are on this one and we’ll pick a team that we think is fresh and ready for this game.”
Solskjaer can lead United to yet another semi-final if they maintain their impressive form and beat Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
