Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has tried to clarify the situation involving Mason Greenwood amid reports of ill-discipline.

Greenwood endured a torrid start to the season, failing to find the back of the net despite being handed at least 45 minutes of action in the opening three Premier League fixtures.

But, after regularly performing at the beginning of the season, the 19-year-old forward was nowhere to be seen in United’s previous two matches in all competitions.

After skipping the Red Devils’ 4-1 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League, he was left out for their 2-1 Champions League triumph over PSG.

Earlier this week, reports suggested the Old Trafford outfit warned the highly-rated youngster over his conduct.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had grown frustrated by Greenwood’s behavior that saw the left-footed winger being sent home by England for breaching coronavirus recommendations.

But, the Norwegian manager is now ready to re-establish the player and bring him back to the fold for the upcoming Premier League showdown with Chelsea.

That said, Solskjaer has issued an update on the situation involving Greenwood’s current status at the Theatre of Dreams.

“We have a great record and tradition of bringing our players through, that means from early on you get good habits, you express yourselves, Mason’s come through this program, done fantastic and will be kicking on I’m sure, he’s a very exciting boy to work with,” he said, as relayed by the Express Sport.

“You do [make a target for yourself] when you play well, and I’m not concerned at all with Mason making a target for himself. He came in, played fantastically. He made his first start against Tottenham last season, was brilliant, kicked on.

“He made a mistake for England, and suddenly the English press goes after him.”
