Manchester United got eliminated by West Ham United in the Carabao Cup but Solskjaer explained Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence.
Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Manchester United to compete for all the titles but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keeps making mistakes. Today was a crucial match in order to continue playing all four tournaments. A win against West Ham United was mandatory but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still left Cristiano Ronaldo off the squad. With an early goal scored by Manuel Lanzini, the Hammers protected this result throughout 90 minutes and eliminated the Red Devils.
Before the match, Ole attempted to justify his decision to leave Cristiano out of the game but the Portuguese star must be fuming right now. If he could do anything to prevent today’s result, he would’ve definitely attempted to do so. In hindsight, Manchester United is not one of the most competitive sides in Europe when Ronaldo is not on the pitch. The sooner Ole realizes this, the better results United will get throughout the season.
Ole justifies his decision to not call Ronaldo.
Regardless of the danger of getting eliminated in the Carabao Cup, Ole attempted to explain his decision to leave Ronaldo out of the game today. Results proved him wrong and United won’t continue playing the tournament this season. As per Sky Sports, this is what Ole said: “We decided more or less before Sunday [to make changes]. We need more players to get match fit.
“Alex Telles is back and has been training for a week. It will be a long season. Cristiano Ronaldo has come in and made a difference already, he wants to play as much as possible but I don’t think it is possible. If you are going to be successful at the end, you need the whole squad and minutes to be shared out. A risk making so many changes but we have played some games behind closed doors and hopefully we find the rhythm.”
