The English midfielder has dropped deep down the pecking order in the Red Devils squad and is linked with a departure in January.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has addressed Jesse Lingard’s situation at Manchester United saying he will hold talks with the player before the conclusion of the January transfer window.

Lingard was yet again left out of the Man Utd squad list on Sunday for the FA Cup 4th round clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

The England international is yet to make a single appearance in this Premier League campaign and has featured just three times across all competitions so far this season for the Red Devils.

Ever since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes last January, the 28-year-old, who made 40 appearances in total in 2019-20, has gradually fallen down Solskjaer’s pecking order.

Tottenham, West Ham United, and Sheffield United are a few among a number of suggested potential Premier League suitors for Lingard, who is seeking an exit from Old Trafford in search of regular game time, while interest in him has also been reported from abroad.

“Jesse trained this morning, he wasn’t in the squad,” Solskjaer told reporters after the 3-2 win against Liverpool, via Goal.

“So, of course, he wants to play football, we will have to see and I will sit down with Jesse and make a decision on what we’re going to do.

“So far, he’s been the ultimate professional, trained well with a small group this morning that were not in the squad.

“I will sit down and see if anything comes up. I’m very happy to have him around us as I know he could have played today and done well.”
