Unlike his compatriot Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder has decided against coming out of retirement to get back on the pitch.

Wesley Sneijder will not be coming out of retirement after making his final decision on the matter.

The veteran Dutchman decided to call it quits in August 2019 after a remarkable career with top sides like Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Just recently, another Dutchman in Arjen Robben came out of retirement to play for his boyhood club FC Groningen.

Following that piece of news, fans started to clamor for Sneijder to do the same with FC Utrecht. The fact that the ex-player has some shares with the club would have made it all the more easier.

The 36-year-old said he would consider it and was even set to train with amateur side DHSC to regain his fitness.

However, Sneijder’s management has now confirmed to Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad that the 36-year-old is definitely not making a comeback.

Frans van Seumeren, major shareholder of Utrecht, told AD: “I understand. It would have been quite a challenge for him to get fit enough and play at this level again.”

“Especially now, because there is a nice selection now. It would have been nice, but I respect his decision.”

It would have been nice to see Sneijder back on the pitch but sadly there’s no chance it’ll happen again.
