The Red Devils will begin plans for a squad overhaul in a bid to compete for the biggest trophies in the 2023/24 campaign.

Six Manchester United players are set to leave the club this summer as the team looks to build on a promising debut campaign under Erik ten Hag.

The departures will make way for new signings in key areas, as last season’s Carabao Cup winners aim to challenge for more major titles.

According to the renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club plans to let the following six players leave.

Harry Maguire

At the top of the list is Harry Maguire. Both the club and the player have agreed to part ways. Maguire has been a key player for Manchester United since his €87 million arrival in 2019, becoming the captain in 2020. That said, he has struggled for form and fell out of favor this season.

Wout Weghorst

Wout Weghorst will not stay at Manchester United after his loan from Burnley. Everton and some unnamed Spanish clubs are reportedly keen on signing the Dutch striker. Weghorst showed flashes of brilliance during his time at Old Trafford, but was not consistent enough to be part of the club’s long-term plans.

Dean Henderson

Dean Henderson’s transfer to Nottingham Forest is in an advanced stage. The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at the Reds, helping them stay in the Premier League. He has been a backup to David de Gea for much of his Manchester United career, and is keen to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper.

Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek is another player who wants to play regular football, and is set to leave Manchester United this summer. The Dutch midfielder has struggled to make an impact since his arrival from Ajax in 2020. He appears eager to find a new club where he can play more regularly.

Eric Bailly

After a lackluster season on loan at Marseille, Eric Bailly is out. The Ivorian defender doesn’t feature in Ten Hag’s plans for 2023/24. He has struggled with injuries since joining Manchester United in 2016 from Villarreal for a €38 million fee.

Alex Telles

Another player who has no part in Ten Hag’s plans is Alex Telles. The Brazilian left-back has failed to impress since his arrival from FC Porto in 2020. He spent last season on loan at Sevilla and started in the Spanish club’s Europa League final victory over AS Roma.
