Ahead of the showdown between Juventus and AC Milan, Simon Kjaer has warned his teammates about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Simon Kjaer has warned AC Milan that Cristiano Ronaldo ‘lives for the goal’ and will stop at nothing to score against them until the final whistle.

The Danish defender will face Ronaldo for the 12th time in his career on Sunday as Serie A top-four rivals Juventus and AC Milan, who are level on 69 points each, lock horns in Turin.

Milan will be desperate to avoid defeat to a direct rival, and how Kjaer fares against Ronaldo could prove key.

“He lives for the goal,” Kjaer told Sky Sport Italia on facing Ronaldo this weekend.

“He can play a game like this, but if there is a ball in the 90th, he does everything to score that goal. He is always involved in the match, which is why he has always been at the top of football for the last 10-15 years.”

Kjaer first faced Ronaldo as an opponent in a World Cup qualifier between Denmark and Portugal in September 2009 in Copenhagen, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The two players have since faced each other a further 10 times in European qualifiers, Euro 2012, La Liga, Coppa Italia, and Serie A across the last decade.

In those encounters, Ronaldo has scored seven goals against Kjaer’s team and he’s been on the winning side six times (D3 L2).

“It has always been a pleasure to play against him, since the first time 11-12 years ago,” remarked Kjaer.

“He changed a lot compared to before. He has always been a champion and there is no need to discuss it.”
