The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner could become the latest big name to move to Saudi Arabia after former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema is considering a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad.
Benzema has already informed Florentino Perez of the proposal. The Real Madrid president and the LaLiga club’s board are awaiting his decision. The striker plans to give his answer to Al-Ittihad by the end of the week.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ittihad have offered Benzema a figure close to €100 million per season to ply his trade in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
As per various reports, Benzema had agreed to extend his contract with Madrid by another year. Recent developments, though, suggest that the 35-year-old may be pondering over a tempting offer from Saudi Arabia.
This season, Benzema has had to deal with plenty of fitness concerns and was unable to participate in the 2022 World Cup. In his absence, France finished runners-up to Argentina after reaching the final in Qatar.
Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Al Nassr in January, the Saudi Pro League is far from done. The league hopes to entice even more football stars to Saudi Arabia with lucrative offers. The targets include Barcelona legends Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
Al Ittihad expect Karim Benzema's final answer very soon. The official proposal is understood to be close to €100m per season plus benefits. 🚨⚪️🇸🇦
