Premier League legend Alan Shearer accepts Harry Kane will smash his record in no time by joining Manchester City.

Harry Kane will ‘absolutely obliterate’ the Premier League’s all-time goal record if he joins Manchester City, says Alan Shearer.

The Newcastle and Blackburn legend is the current record-holder on 260 goals in 441 appearances between 1992 and 2006. His closest rivals to mantle are former Manchester United strikers Wayne Rooney (208 goals) and Andy Cole (187 goals).

But while countless legends have tried and failed to surpass his tally, Shearer feels Kane can do it.

The Tottenham striker is currently the subject of a reported £100 million bid from Premier League champions Manchester City, who need a replacement for the Barcelona-bound Sergio Aguero.

“Sweating?! No. Do I think he will do it? He probably will do,” Shearer told UMM of Kane chasing his record.

“I’ve had it for 20-odd years so it will go one day, and if it goes then why not go to him, he’s a nice guy.

“He’ll absolutely obliterate it if he goes to City, in three or four years.”

Kane is the seventh-highest scorer in Premier League history with 166 goals in 245 appearances. He has won the Golden Boot three times and is 94 goals adrift of Shearer’s record haul of 260 goals.

The England captain is currently preparing for the Three Lions’ Group D finale against the Czech Republic on Tuesday night in Euro 2020.
