Ukraine was the stage in which Real Madrid visited Shakhtar Donetsk in a crucial Champions League game. We have the player ratings.

Real Madrid fans are furious after their team’s performance this evening against Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. They are starting to have nightmares about the Spanish giants playing the UEFA Europa League or even getting eliminated from any competition.

Initially, they arrived with confidence after a dominant victory against Inter Milan last week in Italy. But Shakhtar proved they are a better-prepared squad that took advantage of Los Blancos’ weak points this evening. Apart from a poor level of performance from certain players, Real Madrid also has some important names on the injury list.

For this week’s Champions League game, they lost Eden Hazard through an injury he sustained last weekend in La Liga. They also don’t have Sergio Ramos with them as he recovers from another injury. All of these problems were a recipe for disaster that Real Madrid wasn’t able to prevent. Shakhtar Donetsk was ready to dominate against a weak Spanish side.

Dentinho and Solomon get three points.

Shakhtar Donetsk has been relying on Brazilian talent for over a decade and the trust has paid off many times in the past. Today, Dentinho scored a goal early in the second half with Raphael Varane as an accomplice. The French defender has been dismal this season but today was arguably his worst performance.

During the second goal in the counter-attack, neither Varane nor Lucas were able to stop Solomon for Shakhtar’s second goal of the evening. On the attack, Real Madrid had a failing line in which Marco Asensio couldn’t perform next to Benzema. Another forgettable night for Los Blancos that leaves them on the brink of elimination.
