Manchester United will have to work hard to reach the Europa League final as in their way stand the competition’s experts Sevilla.
Only two wins now separate either of Sevilla or Manchester United from lifting the Europa League trophy.
Both teams have been considered as favorites to go all the way through and win the competition. However, only one will prevail as they are set to go against each other in the semi-finals at RheinEnergieStadion over the coming weekend.
Man United had the easier route of the two teams to reaching this stage, though the results did not seem like it. They were paired against FC Copenhagen and it took 120 minutes for them to scrape a 1-0 win.
Sevilla were matched with Wolves. A goal late in the match saw them go through with a 1-0 scoreline.
Both the teams will proceed into the match with high morale as both have enjoyed fine form as of late.
Sevilla are on a remarkable 19-game unbeaten run all competitions, a streak that started in February. They also appear to be a quite defensively stable team, having registered seven consecutive clean sheets and allowed just one goal in their last eight matches.
Man United have suffered just one defeat, the FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea, in their last 24 matches. Sevilla may have a stubborn defense but United have an equally formidable attack with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood in the team.
Head to Head:
Two most recent meeting between the two sides came in the Europa League Round of 16 in 2018. Sevilla won the tie with an aggregate score of 2-1.
