The Blues need to step up their pursuit of the French defender or else they might miss out on him.
Sevilla sporting director Monchi claims “many clubs have asked for” Jules Kounde but says they are yet to receive a formal offer for the defender.
Kounde has emerged as a top target for Chelsea with Thomas Tuchel supposedly seeking to bolster his backline ahead of the new season.
The defender is understood to have a release clause worth €80 million in his contract with the La Liga giants, but Chelsea are said to be hesitant over triggering it.
Instead, the London side have reportedly proposed a player-plus-cash deal to Sevilla in exchange for the talented Frenchman’s services. Kurt Zouma has been offered as a makeweight in the deal in order to ease the financial burden, with the Blues also targeting Romelu Lukaku.
“Many clubs have asked for Kounde. There’s interest, but no official bid on the table,” said Monchi, as Goal reports.
“To this day there has been no specific offer for him. I don’t know what’s going to happen. If an important bid arrives, we’ll sell, as this is our policy to improve the team.
“The Sevilla player wants to know what will happen. I don’t know. But if there is no offer we believe we can reinvest, he will continue with us. His physical condition is very good.”
