Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium was the place where Borussia Dortmund visited Sevilla FC in the Champions League. We got player ratings.
Borussia Dortmund traveled to play Sevilla this evening to prove a point in the Champions League, especially Erling Haaland. Yesterday, we saw Kylian Mbappe score a hat-trick against FC Barcelona. The Norwegian striker didn’t want to miss out on the prestige that the Champions League can bring. All the interesting moments happened mostly in the first half. Suso scored the opener with some help from Hummels, who deflected the ball after the shot.
Minutes after that, Dahoud scored his first-ever Champions League goal from the distance. But Haaland’s time was fast approaching as he scored a fantastic double before half-time that gave Dortmund the advantage. The first goal was especially impressive in a combination with Jadon Sancho that left all Sevilla players astounded.
Sevilla pulls one back in the second half.
Despite their attempts in the second half, Sevilla wasn’t able to turn the game around but they did score one more goal. Luuk De Jong came from the bench to get it but they still lost at home against a powerful German squad. Borussia Dortmund wasn’t able to secure more goals in the second half.
Despite the lack of dominance, they can still get that ticket to the tournament’s quarterfinals in the return leg. Erling Haaland sure did leave a mark in one of the most important matches of the season for his club. We won’t get to watch this match until the middle of March.
