A late equalizer from Dani Carvajal helped Real Madrid escape a defeat at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Sevilla drew 1-1 with Real Madrid in their La Liga game on Saturday. The Blancos’ run of five consecutive victories ended with an unexpected draw.
What happened?
Real Madrid found a better start to the game as they scored two disallowed goals early on. However, Sevilla managed to find their foot in the game as the first half went on, creating a number of serious chances.
The hosts, however, had to wait until the 74th minute to score the opener. A cross from Marcos Acuna was smashed into the back of the net by David Alaba.
But it didn’t take long before the visitors came back into the game with an opener. Only four minutes after Alaba’s goal, Dani Carvajal made it 1-1 for the Blancos. The defender put Toni Kroos’ brilliant cross past Orjan Nyland with a powerful header.
Real Madrid spent the final ten minutes of the game pushing for a match-winner. But Carlo Ancelotti’s men failed to convert their chances as they settled for the 1-1 draw.
