The Catalans claimed an easy victory to go behind league leaders Real Madrid.
Barcelona defeated Sevilla 3-0 in their La Liga game on Saturday. A dominant performance from Barca left no chance for Sevilla to fight back at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Lewa strikes again!
Similar to their last week’s game against Valladolid, Barcelona struggled to find their feet in the game early on.
The hosts created a few decent chances in the first 15 minutes, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s saves prevented them from scoring the opener.
The Catalans then broke the deadlock themselves, with Raphinha scoring his first La Liga goal in the 21st minute.
Sevilla’s defence looked shattered when Barca doubled their lead 15 minutes later. Following a precise cross from Jules Kounde, Robert Lewandowski controlled the ball with his chest before doubling Barcelona’s lead with a powerful shot.
Xavi Hernandez’s side remained in charge of the game after half-time, putting pressure on Sevilla’s defence from both sides.
Following a few missed chances, Eric Garcia made it 3-0 for the Catalans in the 51st minute. Kounde registered his second assist of the night by heading the ball across goal for Garcia, who then nodded home from close range.
Barca had several more chances to increase their lead throughout the second period but eventually settled for the 3-0 win.
The Catalans will now prepare to host Viktoria Plzen in their first Champions League game of the season on Wednesday.
