Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Cagliari has extended his lead in the Capocannoniere race as he bids to finish top-scorer in Italy for the first time.

After finishing fourth in 2018/19 and runner-up last season, Cristiano Ronaldo is edging closer to becoming the Italian goal king in his third campaign.

The Portuguese star scored his first hat-trick of the season in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Cagliari to increase his tally to 23 goals in as many Serie A games. He now holds a four-goal lead over Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku.

Atalanta forward Luis Muriel, who has scored in five of his last seven games, completes the top-three on 16 goals.
