Joan Laporta had previously announced the club had signed two players for next season.

Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has confirmed reports that Franck Kessie is set to join the club this summer.

The Ivorian midfielder will be available as a free agent at the end of his AC Milan contract in June. According to various reports, he has already signed a four-year deal for Barcelona. His net salary will be around €6.5 million plus add-ons.

Recently, club president Joan Laporta confirmed the signings of a ‘center-back and a midfielder’ but wouldn’t give any names.

‘I am sure Kessie will help us’

However, in an interview with RAC1, Busquets confirmed one of the new players will be Kessie.

“Kessie? Of course, the coach [Xavi Hernandez] saw him and agreed to sign him,” said the 33-year-old midfielder.

“I’m glad the team is making signings and players want to come here. Kessie is a strong player, and he does not lose possession. I’m sure he will help us.”

Who is the other player Barca have signed?

Alongside Kessie, Barcelona are believed to have done a deal to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

The 25-year-old Dane’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs out at the end of the season.

Until July, however, Barcelona won’t be able to make their new signings official. Head coach Xavi must, therefore, rely on his current squad ahead of Sunday’s La Liga clash against Sevilla.

Judging by the odds offered by Bet365, he has every reason to be confident. A Barcelona win is priced at 1.45 at the time of writing, suggesting they have a 69% chance of all three points at Camp Nou.
