The captain will end an 18-year spell at the LaLiga club at the end of the season.
Barcelona have confirmed Sergio Busquets will leave once his contract expires in the summer, bringing an end to a glorious 18-year spell.
Busquets, who joined Barca’s youth system in 2005, had an offer to extend his stay at the Spotify Camp Nou, and while manager Xavi Hernandez also wanted him to stick around, he has decided to see out the remainder of his career elsewhere.
Barcelona confirmed the decision in an announcement on Wednesday morning, which included a video clip and message from Busquets.
The 34-year-old midfielder has not stated his next move at the time of writing.
According to various reports, he has an offer to join an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia. MLS club Inter Miami is another possibility.
Busquets ranks third on the all-time list of appearance-makers for Barcelona. He has played 719 times for the first team, managing 18 goals and 45 assists.
The former Spain international has won 31 trophies to date in Catalonia, including eight LaLiga titles and three Champions League crowns.
He could win his ninth and final LaLiga title with Barcelona this Sunday if Xavi’s side beat Espanyol.
