Brazil found a solid start to their World Cup campaign against the Serbs.

Brazil defeated Serbia 2-0 in their World Cup campaign on Thursday. The star-studded Selecao clinched the three points with a fantastic second-half display.

Richarlison steals the show!

Brazil quickly established their expected dominance early on but stayed calm in storming Serbia’s backline.

The Selecao made a few attempts to break the deadlock during the first half, with Neymar being central to their goalscoring efforts.

Brazil’s more serious waves of attacks, however, started after the break.

Serbia abandoned their ambitious plans of penetrating Brazil’s defence from down the middle as their backline came under heavy pressure.

Following a number of missed chances, Richarlison opened the scoring for Brazil two minutes past the hour-mark.

A rebound from Vinicius’ powerful shot found the Tottenham star, who nodded it home from close range.

Serbia made a few attempts to escape Brazil’s relentless attacks after the goal. But a super goal from Richarlison ended their hopes of possibly coming back into the game.

Following a low cross from Vinicius, Raphinha controlled the ball with a sublime touch before smashing the ball home with a stunning bicycle kick.

Brazil doubled their lead through Raphinha’s screamer, but Tite only subbed off his attackers for more high-profile forwards.

Rodrygo, Gabriel Jesus, Antony, and Gabriel Martinelli came in motivated to add their names to the scoresheet. The Selecao came close to extending their lead several more times in the final ten minutes but had to settle for the 2-0 win.

Both sides will return to action on Monday. Brazil will face Switzerland, while Serbia take on Cameroon.
