Sadio Mane scored a late goal as the defending champions continued their winning run in the tournament.

Senegal defeated Cameroon 3-1 in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) game on Friday. The Teranga Lions edged out their opponents with an excellent attacking display.

What happened?

Senegal’s dominant start to the game paid off when Isamila Sarr opened the scoring in the 16th minute. The Marseille star’s low shot found the right corner of the net as Senegal went ahead 1-0. Cameroon pushed to find an equalizer before the break but struggled to create any serious chances.

The same trend continued in the second half as Senegal increased the pressure to extend their lead. Following a brilliant assist from Sarr, Habib Diallo scored his side’s second goal in the 71st minute.

Cameroon pulled one back through Jean-Charles Castelletto ten minutes later but it was already too late for them to mount a comeback. Sadio Mane then put the icing on the cake for Senegal in the 95th minute, making it 3-1 for the defending champions with a perfect low shot from the edge of the box.

Senegal vs Cameroon: Man of the Match

Ismaila Sarr deserves the Man of the Match title for his fantastic display against Cameroon. The 25-year-old registered a goal and an assist while constantly threatening Cameroon’s backline with his devastating runs down the left-hand channel of the box.
