A former member of the Red Devils squad cannot quite understand the team’s style of play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is unsure whether Manchester United “are going to be successful or not” under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer has spent significantly to improve his squad since taking over at Manchester United as a caretaker manager back in December 2018. Although it can be argued that he has helped Man United become the best version of themselves in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson Era, Solskjaer has nothing tangible to show for it.

2021-22 has been subpar so far for the Red Devils, who have struggled in the Champions League, sit outside top-six in the Premier League, and have already exited the League Cup.

“United are still a work in progress. Solskjaer keeps mentioning that,” Schweinsteiger told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“It takes too long though for me in my eyes. If you look at [Man] City or Chelsea and the impact that Tuchel had on them – it was unbelievable. They have a strategy and a DNA. They have more in their game.

“When I watch United games I don’t know how they play. I can’t guarantee you a win and as a Manchester United fan you want to know that.

“They keep talking about time, but you don’t have time in football. You have to win right now.

“It is still not 100% clear to me if United are going to be successful or not. It has not been easy for them. They have great names like Pogba and Ronaldo, and I think that Rashford will help them a lot in the future.

“The experience of Ronaldo and Raphael Varane will definitely help the team, but the question is how much are they involved in the tactics of the team.”
