Manchester United were knocked out of Europa League by Sevilla and Paul Scholes believes Jadon Sacho’s presence would have avoided the loss.
There were numerous chances for Manchester United to get the lead but their inability cost them the tie. It was Sevilla who made the most of their opportunities and progress to the Europa League final.
Suso and Luk de Jong were the heroes. Whereas Bruno Fernandes despite getting on the scoreboard, could not influence the proceedings.
This is the third semi-final of a cup competition that Manchester United have been dumped out of.
Red Devils great, Paul Scholes, was in denial about the result and believes his old side were better on the night.
Scholes was of the opinion that the loss should prompt the management in buying Jadon Sancho this summer. The retired midfielder believes that if Sancho was in the line-up today, United would have found that elusive goal.
“I thought they were good tonight, but that 15 minutes after half-time, you have got to score them. We talk about spending money about buying center-forwards and wide players, you are talking about millions but they score the big goals,” Daily Mail quoted Scholes.
“I think if Sancho is in that team tonight they score one of those.”
“United were the better team but the defensive part of the second goal was shocking. Lindelof has got to be looking at him.”
The defeat brings an end to an especially long 2019/20 season for Manchester United. They qualified for Champions League but would rue the missed chances of adding silverware to the Old Trafford trophy cabinet.
