The Danes have exceeded expectations at Euro 2020, and a national icon only expects them to take a step further towards glory tonight.

Peter Schmeichel is optimistic about Denmark’s chances against England saying they are “favorites” going into the Euro 2020 semi-final tie.

Denmark have been somewhat of a surprise package in the tournament. Along with great fighting spirit and resilience, they also boast immense firepower, having secured 4-goal wins in two of their last three games.

Their attack is now up for a tough test as the Danish Dynamites’ upcoming opponents have been rock solid in defense, with England yet to concede a single goal in the competition so far.

The odds might not be in the favor of the Danes but Schmeichel feels his countrymen have what it takes to down the Three Lions and book a place in the finals.

“If I’m honest, I think Denmark are favourites,” he told Manchester United’s website.

“I think it’s going to be tight. There are great similarities between the managers. [They are] very similar in their approach, man management, how they want to play the game, [they’re] very flexible, they keep very solid at the back and in midfield and then they have creativity in the wider areas and people who are getting on the end of chances up front.

“I really do believe this is very evenly balanced, in spite of what people may read in England. It’s very much about what happens on the day.”
