Braga faced Roma at Estadio Municipal de Braga this Thursday afternoon at the Europa League. We have the player ratings.
Roma secured an easy win against Sporting de Braga in Portugal with the help of newly-returned Edin Dzeko. Paulo Fonseca’s men started the game in full steam and only needed four minutes to score. In fact, the Giallorossi counted on a very quick and effective Spinazzola who ran down the wing and provided Roma’s recent outcast with a positive return. Dzeko, who recently had a falling out with manager Paulo Fonseca, proved the Portuguese coach was right to trust him once again.
Roma also dominated the majority of the match and had several opportunities to increase their lead. Nevertheless, Braga also had a few chances, and fans were left complaining after Sporar was brought down in the box. However, both referee and VAR considered the tackle was legal.
Additionally, it wasn’t until Esgaio got sent off that the Giallorossi had more space and time to explore Braga’s weaknesses. A few minutes before the end of the match, Mkhitaryan delivered a perfect pass to Veretout. The midfielder then set up Mayoral for an easy finish.
Roma will also have to face Braga next week at the Stadio Olimpico. However, they have two away goals to help them secure a spot in the UEL’s next stage.
