Check out the most exciting teams ahead of the new Saudi Pro League season.

It all started with an explosive Cristiano Ronaldo interview. The Manchester United legend broke all the bridges behind him at Old Trafford before heading to Al Nassr.

What seemed like an odd career decision by Ronaldo marked the beginning of an influx of talents from European leagues to Saudi Arabian football.

As the new Saudi Pro League campaign starts, let’s take a look at the most exciting teams in the competition.

Al Ettifaq

Steven Gerrard will oversee Al Ettifaq’s ambitious project as their new manager. The club started their summer recruitment by completing a free move for Moussa Dembele.

However, their biggest investment came was the controversial signing of Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, who arrived on a £12m deal.

Al Ahli

After spending the 2022-23 season in the second division, Al Ahli are making sure to have a big comeback into the Saudi Pro League this season.

After signing promising manager Matthias Jaissle, the club have went on to add a number of top-level stars to their ranks this summer.

Roberto Firmino, Frank Kessie, Edouard Mendy, Allan Saint-Maximin, Roger Ibanez, and Riyad Mahrez have all joined Al Ahli this summer, making them one of the most exciting teams of the 2023-24 season.

Al Ittihad

Karim Benzema’s transfer to Al Ittihad was a milestone for the Saudi Arabian as they signed the current Ballon d’Or holder on a staggering £172-million-per-year contract.

The next big signing was N’Golo Kante, who ended his illustrious career at Chelsea to join the club. The Frenchman will link up with former Liverpool star Fabinho in Al Ittihad’s midfield line.

Al Hilal

The Riyadh powerhouse pushed hard to sign Lionel Messi after the Argentine’s departure from Paris Saint-Germain. However, their astronomical bid was rejected as Messi decided to move to Inter Miami.

That setback hasn’t stopped Al Hilal from making other big-money additions to their squad. Ruben Neves, who was a top target for Barcelona this summer, joined the club on a £47m transfer.

Al Hilal have also completed moves for Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinković-Savić, and Malco. Neymar is set to become the crown jewel of Al Hilal’s summer requirements for the new campaign.

Al Nassr

After a slow start to the summer transfer window, Al Nassr have bounced back to add a number of high-profile stars to their squad.

Sadio Mane will play alongside Ronaldo in Al Nassr’s attacking line after completing a £24m move from Bayern Munich. The club have also added the likes of Alex Telles, Marcelo Brozovic, and Sesko Fofana to their ranks.

After narrowly missing out on the league title last season, Al Nassr will try to win their 10th Pro League trophy in the 2023-24 campaign.
