The Frenchman’s contract at Chelsea expires this month and he could now become of the latest big-name players to move to Saudi Arabia.
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has a lucrative offer to join a club in Saudi Arabia. His salary could reach up to €100 million (£86.2m) per year. It would include earnings from his image rights and any commercial deals.
Kante’s contract with Chelsea expires this month, and emissaries from Saudi Arabia are in London to present their proposal. According to The Guardian, two Saudi clubs, Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr, are interested.
The 32-year-old has always been open to extending his deal with Chelsea, but nothing has been finalized yet. He is coming off an injury-plagued campaign, which restricted him to a mere seven Premier League appearances.
Who else could be on their way to Saudi Arabia?
This move adds another twist to a series of developments in Saudi Arabian football. In January, Al Nassr signed Cristiano Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner put pen to paper on a record deal of around €200 million per season until June 2025.
Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema is also expected to arrive in the country this summer, with various reports claiming he has already signed a similar deal to Ronaldo’s with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad.
Lionel Messi has also reportedly been offered around €400 million per year by Al-Hilal. The Argentina captain will become a free agent once his Paris Saint-Germain contract ends this month. Saudi clubs are also pushing to sign his former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is expected to leave Chelsea, has been approached by Al-Ahli and Al-Shabab.
