Chelsea to ‘test the water’ for Lampard’s top target

Declan Rice is set to become the subject of a transfer bid from Chelsea.

The West Ham midfielder was previously on Frank Lampard’s radar before the Blues changed managers in January by recruiting Thomas Tuchel. The German, however, shares his predecessor’s interest in Rice, who would ‘jump at the chance’ to join the club. Therefore, Chelsea will ‘test the water’ with an opening offer soon.

Despite West Ham valuing Rice at £100 million, the European champions hope to do a deal between £60-70m. [Eurosport]

Manchester City strike an agreement with Grealish

Jack Grealish has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Manchester City ahead of a potential British-record deal of around £90 million.

The Premier League champions have offered the attacking midfielder a ‘huge contract’. But while successful in securing an agreement with Grealish, getting Aston Villa to do the same is another thing. The Lions are reluctant to lose their star man, who will not force a transfer either.

That said, Grealish is eager to play Champions League football and hone his skills under Pep Guardiola. [Football Insider]

Mbappe to refuse PSG contract offer

Kylian Mbappe has allegedly told Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino he will not sign a new contract.

The 22-year-old has made his intentions crystal clear. He will either leave the club this summer for a hefty transfer fee or next year as a free agent once his current contract expires. A move to Real Madrid is apparently his plan. [AS – in Spanish]

Arsenal to accept Abraham’s bold wage demands

Despite earning around £80,000 a week at Chelsea, Tammy Abraham seeks a pay rise. The Englishman wants £125,000 every week, a figure Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer.

The Gunners seek a new striker to strengthen their attacking ranks this summer. And Abraham, who is out of favor at Chelsea, is an ideal candidate in manager Mikel Arteta’s opinion.

Arsenal have struck no agreement with Chelsea so far, with West Ham and Aston Villa also interested in Abraham. [Daily Express]

Griezmann to replace Ronaldo at Juventus?

Barcelona believe Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential exit could open the door for Antoine Griezmann to join Juventus.

If the five-time Ballon d’Or winner does indeed leave, Juventus would accept a season-long loan deal to sign Griezmann from Barcelona with a buy option included. [Sport – in Spanish]

Abramovich gives Chelsea the green light for Haaland bid

Blues owner Roman Abramovich has given his seal of approval for the club to launch a £130 million bid for Erling Haaland.

Chelsea have previously attempted to lure Borussia Dortmund into a sale by offering player-plus-cash deals, but they will now make a straight cash offer of £130m to sign Haaland. [Football Insider]
