Arsenal eye Silva as a Lacazette replacement

The Gunners have reportedly begun work on a transfer deal for Andre Silva.

The Portuguese striker is in demand after scoring 28 goals in 32 Bundesliga games. Eintracht Frankfurt have slapped a €40 million price tag on their prized asset, but may be forced to sell him for less. RB Leipzig, a fellow German club, are also interested in Silva.

But Arsenal have told Silva they’re keen to do a deal, but must sell first. The player that could be sold is Alexandre Lacazette. The club’s top scorer of last season is out of contract in 2022. [The Transfer Window podcast]

Real Madrid turn down Duro signing

Despite impressing on loan for the Castilla team last season, Hugo Duro won’t remain at Real Madrid for 2021/22.

The 21-year-old’s parent club, Getafe, were unwilling to send him out on loan again. Therefore, Real Madrid had two options – either sign Duro on a permanent €4 million transfer deal or drop their interest.

The Spanish giants went for the latter option as implications from the COVID-19 pandemic continue to limit their finances. [Marca]

PSG ready to renew interest in Pogba

With only a year left on his contract, Paul Pogba’s future is in doubt again ahead of the summer transfer window again.

The Frenchman remains locked in talks with Manchester United over a new deal. His agent Mino Raiola, however, has met Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi. PSG are allegedly keen to renew their interest in Pogba. [Le Parisien – in French]

Chelsea set for Lacroix battle

After Fikayo Tomori’s exit and Kurt Zouma’s uncertain future, Thomas Tuchel is reportedly eyeing a new central defender.

Maxence Lacroix, who starred for Wolfsburg in his debut Bundesliga campaign in 2020/21, has caught the Chelsea manager’s interest. The Blues, though, could face competition from several clubs if they pursue a deal.

Wolfsburg have already rejected a €20 million offer from RB Leipzig and may only sell for around €30m. [Foot Mercato – in French]

Tierney agrees on new five-year Arsenal contract

Kieran Tierney has verbally agreed on a new five-year contract and will put pen-to-paper on it in the coming days.

The 25-year-old left-back was one of Arsenal’s standout performers last season and is viewed as a future captain. The Gunners, though, still intend to pursue a back-up for Tierney this summer.

Emile Smith-Rowe, meanwhile, is expected to commit to a new contract but is far from ready to do so at the moment. [Football.London]

Lucien Favre has emerged as a surprise candidate to succeed Roy Hodgson as the next Crystal Palace manager.
