Leroy Sane confessed to feeling ‘a little sorry’ for helping Bayern Munich thrash his old side Schalke on Friday night.
Sane made his long-awaited debut in Friday’s Bundesliga opener and did so in style, bagging two assists and a goal to help Bayern Munich cruise to an impressive 8-0 victory over Schalke at the Allianz Arena.
The former Manchester City winger could’ve added a few more goals on the night, but made a lasting impression nonetheless.
A Serge Gnabry hat-trick on top of goals from Leon Goretzka, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, and 17-year-old Jamal Musiala completed a sensational victory.
“It felt very good to be on the pitch with the boys,” Sane told reporters after his debut as quoted on Yahoo.
“It was a very good day. I feel completely at ease and knew that it would work out well with the team. Everyone was hungry. Everyone just wanted to attack and give full throttle.”

The debut was an emotional one for Sane as it came against his boyhood side Schalke. The 24-year-old is a product of the club’s famed youth academy and made 57 appearances for the first-team before joining City in 2016.
“Of course, I was at Schalke for a long time,” admitted Sane.
“To get such a defeat at the start of the season and it goes so haywire is difficult. I’m of course a little sorry.”
Next up for Sane and Bayern will be the UEFA Super Cup final on Thursday as the Champions League winners face Europa League title holders Sevilla in Budapest, Hungary.
