AC Milan continued their unbeaten start to the Serie A season with a 2-1 away win over Sampdoria on Sunday.

Milan were made to work hard in a 2-1 win away to Sampdoria. Goals from Franck Kessie and Samu Castillejo saw the Rossoneri consolidate their five-point lead at the top of the Serie A standings.

Pioli had to rotate things a bit with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer, Rafael Leao, and Mateo Musacchio all out injured.

Sampdoria came close to opening the scoring after just eight minutes. Donnarumma made an acrobatic save from a Lorenzo Tonelli header to tip the ball over the bar from point-blank range.

Rebic thought he opened the scoring for Milan and grabbed his first goal of the season in the 38th minutes but his goal-bound shot was cleared off the line.

Kessie broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time with a penalty to give his side the lead.

Castillejo doubled Milan’s lead in the 77th minute after connecting to a cross from Hauge to make it 2-0 from 12 yards.

Albin Ekdal grabbed one for Sampdoria six minutes later via a corner kick but it only proved to be a consolation goal. He could have grabbed an equalizer late on but saw his effort saved by a resolute Donnarumma.

The result leaves Milan unbeaten and with another impressive win despite missing a number of key players.
