Juventus player Sami Khedira spoke about his first years at Real Madrid and what it was like to meet Cristiano Ronaldo for the first time.

The German player spent five seasons at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2015. Khedira later decided to move to Juventus, where he continues being Ronaldo’s teammate to this day. Now, the player has admitted he desires a Premier League move. Moreover, rumors suggest his former managers Mourinho and Ancelotti want his services.

Khedira talked to The Athletic about his time at Real Madrid and how his superstar teammates affected his career. According to the 33-year old, three of his Madrid colleagues redefined what being a professional meant for him.

“Cristiano, Ramos and Kaka played more than anyone and also practiced more than anyone. I thought I knew how to be a professional but they were in another planet. They dedicated themselves to the fullest. That’s when I realized I had more than ten extra hours when I could work on myself, besides what I did at practice.”

The German Bianconero also spoke about one of his first encounters with Cristiano Ronaldo. In fact, it was at that moment that Khedira realized why the Portuguese forward is one of the most successful players in history.

“I asked Cristiano about good restaurants in Madrid and he told me he ate at home most times and did extra work afterwards. It’s no lucky stroke that he’s been on top since he was 18. For him, football is his life and not his job.”
