According to a report, there is a growing sense that Mohamed Salah could be leaning towards an exit from Liverpool.
If reports are true, Mohamed Salah could be edging closer to a Liverpool exit.
The Egypt international has scored 119 goals in 192 appearances for the Reds since joining from Roma in 2017. Despite Liverpool’s league struggles this term, he has carried on with his individual brilliance, bagging 25 goals across all competitions so far.
Salah has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona in recent seasons and sparked more rumours earlier this season by claiming he could join one of the Spanish giants at some point in the future.
And now ESPN claims that ‘Liverpool are facing a conundrum’ over the 28-year-old’s future at the club with a ‘growing sense within the Liverpool squad that Salah is eyeing a new challenge elsewhere’.
The report claims that his future will be ‘influenced in part’ by how the Reds finish the season with no guarantees they will be playing Champions League football next term.
As quoted in the report: “Sources added the Reds are relaxed about the situation, given the 28-year-old’s contract has two years left to run, and there has been no obvious deterioration in the forward’s form or commitment to the club with Salah the joint leading scorer with Tottenham’s Harry Kane in the Premier League this season with 17 goals.”
The report adds that the ‘dynamic would change if Salah pushed for a move’ with ‘no indication’ that the Merseysiders will offer him a new deal.
Meanwhile, speaking back in February, Liverpool legend Ian Rush backed Salah to remain at Anfield as the club has a “broad appeal”.
Rush said: “I think Liverpool has a broad appeal.”
“Teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid have the history, same as Liverpool and Manchester United, and for him to be linked to any of those clubs means that he is one hell of a player. But for me I think Mo Salah will stay at Liverpool.”
