The Egyptian star put in yet another top-drawer display for the Reds on Saturday, and his manager couldn’t help but sing praises of him.

Mohamed Salah is better than footballing titans Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and is the best player in the world at present, in the view of Jurgen Klopp.

Salah starred for Liverpool in their Premier League game against Watford, scoring a goal and setting up two more in the dominant 5-0 victory.

The 29-year-old forward’s goal was a thing of beauty as he weaved his way past a flurry of defenders before bending a shot past Ben Foster and into the bottom corner.

The splendid strike saw him take the lead in the Premier League Golden Boot race while it also marked Salah’s 10th goal of the season across all competitions in as many appearances for the Reds.

“His performance was massive today. The pass for the first goal was great and the second goal was special,” Klopp told BT Sport after the match.

“He is top. We all see it. Who is better than him? We don’t have to talk about what Messi and Ronaldo have done for world football and their dominance. But right now, he is the best.

“How it is, it’s not only since yesterday – he’s been in that shape for a while. He’s young enough to keep the shape a little bit longer.”
