The Egyptian lifted the lid on the Liverpool squad’s half-time reaction at Old Trafford after taking a 4-0 lead before the break on Sunday.

Despite holding a 4-0 lead during the break, Mohamed Salah has revealed all Liverpool could think about was scoring even more goals to record a historic victory over Manchester United.

Given the final scoreline, many would say they definitely did that.

Not only did Liverpool record their biggest victory at Old Trafford, but the 5-0 win was the club’s biggest triumph against United since October 1895 – where they claimed a 7-1 win at Anfield.

Now Salah, who scored a hat-trick in the 5-0 mauling of United, has given the inside scoop on the reaction inside the dressing room at half-time as the players reflected on their four-goal lead.

“After half-time, we were talking in the dressing room that we need to write history, we just need to keep going and keep scoring goals, try to score as many as you could. A chance like that will not come often,” he told Sky Sports.

“So we just tried to do our best to win the game like that. We knew before the game it was going to be tough if we wanted to win the game, which is what we did.”

It was Salah who scored Liverpool’s only goal in the second half to seal the 5-0 win. Naby Keita and Diogo Jota were also on target on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in second place in the Premier League and one point behind leaders Chelsea. They return to action on Wednesday for an EFL Cup last-16 clash at Preston.
