Even though he wants to forget the incident with Sergio Ramos, Mohamed Salah is still very excited to face Real Madrid soon.

Mohamed Salah has a bittersweet memory against Real Madrid that he prefers to forget ahead of their quarterfinals. The Egyptian forward decided he doesn’t want to think about the shoulder injury he suffered against Sergio Ramos. However, he did want to analyze how both teams are coming to this stage of the tournament. For Salah, this Liverpool side is vastly different to the one that lost the 2018 final against Los Blancos.

So much has happened between then and now, mainly their status as champions. Ever since Zidane’s squad defeated them in that final, the Reds already won two major trophies. Although the Champions League seems more important for the rest of the world, they also won the Premier League. Salah feels proud for both titles and he thinks that will make a difference when they face Real Madrid.

Salah also thinks Real Madrid is different.

During an interview with Marca, Mohamed Salah revealed the reason he thinks this Real Madrid side is very different from the one from 2018. This is what he said: “Between then and now, we’ve won the Premier League and the Champions League. We are champions. That’s a massive change. It’s different. They have lost a few great players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, the best in their history. He scored so many goals.

“At the same time, they signed Hazard but Eden hasn’t been fortunate. He’s been injured most of the time. But it is a different squad. Their team made it to the quarterfinals with great players, although they lost Ronaldo’s goals. I truly can’t say who is better. All I can tell you is that they are in this stage and they are likely ready. We also need to be ready to face them.”
