Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker has claimed Senegal’s triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations has improved Sadio Mane’s form.

Mane won his first international trophy when Senegal defeated Egypt in the AFCON final in February. Since returning from the tournament, the 30-year-old has continued his role as a cornerstone of Liverpool’s attacking line.

He scored the winning goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa, keeping the Reds’ title hopes alive.

In an interview after the game, Alisson Becker praised Mane for his recent run of form.

“Sadio is amazing and all the time he is helping us,” Alisson told the club’s website“I believe he is even more confident because of the Africa Cup of Nations title.

“He is scoring and helping us in the games, playing in a different position to what he was used to playing. A fantastic player for us and I’m really happy to have him on my team.”

Mane has scored 15 goals and provided four assists in his 33 league appearances this season. The Senegal international is currently in negotiations with Liverpool to renew his contract, which runs until June 2023.

In recent days reports have emerged about Bayern Munich’s interest in signing Mane. Let’s see if the Reds can convince their African star to stay at Anfield beyond his current deal.
