Wolves are in advanced talks with Arsenal over a deal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The Gunners are open to letting the defender leave.
Arsenal star Maitland-Niles could be on his way out of the club this summer.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly eager to make a number of signings this summer. The Gunners already brought in Willian and are also expected to announce Gabriel Magalahes soon. The defender has already arrived in London ahead of a medical scheduled for Tuesday.
However, Arsenal’s financial situation means they must sell some players if they are to make any more signings. The club have put a number of their stars on the transfer market should decent offers come in. Maitland-Niles is one of those names.
Given his profile, a number of clubs were interested in is signature after news of his availability. Tottenham and Newcastle were among those clubs initially linked to the player.
However, a report from Sky Sports says Maitland-Niles is closing in a move to Wolves at this point. The club are already in talks over a £20m move.
The 22-year-old hopes to complete the move this week on a four-year contract once the fee and terms have been finalised.
Given his age and versatility, Maitland-Niles could come in as an asset for Wolves. The Englishman can be deployed as a right back, a right-winger and also in the heart of midfield.
