Of recent, Inter Milan have been linked with Kante but sporting director Piero Ausilio ruled out a move on Saturday.
Kante has started Chelsea’s first three Premier League games of the season.
But the Mirror says the Blues are prepared to part ways with the two-time Premier League winner.
And United have approached Chelsea and the midfielder’s advisors regarding a move to Old Trafford.
The Mirror claims Kante would have to take a big cut on his current £300,000-a-week wages to join United.
However, the midfielder is reluctant to leave Chelsea for less money.
Kante has made 173 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Leicester in 2016.
